Christmas Quote

Okay, so this isn't exactly a quote about Christmas.  It's a song from White Christmas.  I always get this song stuck in my head for days after watching the movie.

Snow
It won't be long before we'll all be there with snow
Snow
I want to wash my hands, my face and hair with snow

Snow
I long to clear a path and lift a spade of snow
Snow
Oh, to see a great big man entirely made of snow

Where it's snowing
All winter through
That's where I want to be
Snowball throwing
That's what I'll do
How I'm longing to ski
Through the snow-oh-oh-oh-oh

Those glist'ning houses that seem to be built of snow
Snow
Oh, to see a mountain covered with a quilt of snow

What is Christmas with no snow
No white Christmas with no snow
Snow

I'll soon be there with snow
I'll wash my hair with snow
And with a spade of snow
I'll build a man that's made of snow
I'd love to stay up with you but I recommend a little shuteye
Go to sleep
And dream
Of snow

Christmas Quote

You might notice that I did another quote last week from Miracle on 34th Street, but this one is from the 1947 version so it makes it okay... right?

Fred Gailey: Your Honor, every one of these letters is addressed to Santa Claus. The Post Office has delivered them. Therefore the Post Office Department, a branch of the Federal Government, recognizes this man Kris Kringle to be the one and only Santa Claus.

Judge Harper: Uh, since the United States Government declares this man to be Santa Claus, this court will not dispute it. Case dismissed.

Christmas Quote

"First we'll make snow angels for two hours, then we'll go ice skating, then we'll eat an entire roll of Toll House cookie dough as fast as we can, and then to finish, we'll snuggle!"
- Elf

To be honest, I wasn't a huge fan of this movie until this year.  Maybe it's grown on me? I'm not sure but I'll take my new found liking for Elf.

Christmas Quote

Rudolph: What do you want?
Clarice: You promised to walk me home.
Rudolph: Aren't you going to laugh at my nose too?
Clarice: I think it's a handsome nose. Much better than that false one you were wearing.
Rudolph: It's terrible... and different from everybody else's!
Clarice: But that's what makes it so grand. Why, any doe would be lucky to know someone with a nose like that.
Rudolph: Yeah? But I wasn't very lucky today, was I?

 "I shall never forget you.
And in all my troubles past
and all my troubles yet to come,
I'll never find a better friend."

This is one of my all-time favorite quotes.  It sums up what true friendship really is, plus it is from a darling movie that I adore.  I know that I've mentioned this before, but I really do watch this movie every, single Thanksgiving and then about ten more times before Christmas.

"Success is how high you bounce when you hit bottom."
~George Smith Patton

There are so many great quotes out in the world and for some reason this one I can relate to.  Success can be measured in many different ways to many different people.  To me, measure it in happiness and the feeling of accomplishment.  Recently, I've discovered that I needed a kick to get back on track with life, with my body, with my mind, and so on...  I needed to hit bottom and it happened.  Not in the dramatic movie way with someone passing away or going to rehab, but I just took one good look in the mirror and that did it.  So, now I'm on my way up.  Who knows how high I will bounce when I get there, but right now I am enjoying the ride.
I can still remember as a kid, I was never allowed to just quit something.  Whether it was studying for a spelling test (and trust me I needed to study!), taking karate lessons, helping around the house, or helping a friend out.  I had to keep with it, not only did I have to stick with something when it go hard, but I had to give it my all.  Somehow my parents would know, as if they had a sense for this, when I wasn't giving 100%.  Then I would hear my dad say, "As long as you tried your hardest, we're proud."  Every time I sit down in class or at a meeting to display a project, I can still hear my Dad saying that to me.  It's as if I am twelve years old again, sitting in the family room with both parents there.  That saying was it.  It showed me that I didn't have to be perfect, but I had to try; and not just a feeble attempt, but an honest to goodness work my butt off.
